My
Photography
I have been involved with photography for many years, from my first attempt with a Kodak Brownie 127 way back in 1960 when my family were living in Singapore, up to today when I am using some of the latest kit in affordable digital cameras. My real involvement in photography came when I was serving with the Royal Air Force in the former West Germany in 1971. I have access to a conventional darkroom, although I have not used this for some time, preferring to use the convenience of a digital darkroom on my PC.
For many years I have used Pentax ME Super 35mm SLR cameras supplemented by a couple of Mamiya roll film cameras. Recently I found it increasingly difficult to focus these cameras, so I traded them in for Canon 35mm equipment. More recently I have added a couple of up-to-date digital cameras, Nikon Coolpix 4200 a Canon EOS 50D, and a Mamiya 645 SLR roll film camera to my gadget bag. For scanning I have a Canon flatbed for prints and a Nikon Coolscan III for negatives and slides. My preferred films are Ilford FP4 and XP2 for monochrome (black and white), Fuji Reala for colour print and Fuji Velvia for colour slide.
I enjoy producing landscapes and environmental images of rural towns and villages seeking out the unusual or humorous, as well as trying my hand at portraiture, glamour, nude, and other studio based types of work, I have even been known to be a bit of an anorak and photograph trains and aircraft. More recently I have returned to creating some Audio Visual sequences.
